Echoes from Eternity

If Jesus is raised from the dead, then you will be as well.  The moment you received Jesus, he abides in you and you in him.  Your life is coupled with his. Like train cars attached to the engine, wherever the engine goes, so go the cars.  Similarly, if Jesus is raised from the dead, so must those who are attached to him. You must go to where he is.

And he is in heaven.  Therefore, heaven is your home.

God's voice calling you home

When you think about Jesus being raised from the dead, doesn’t hope stir your heart?  Don’t you find yourself wanting to believe in the reality of the resurrection?

These feelings could be called echoes from eternity.  After all, God has placed eternity in your hearts (Ecclesiastes 3:11).  They are like a homing device drawing you to your final destination.

This Easter, let these feelings give you hope.  Why?

If Jesus is raised from the dead, then you will be as well.  The moment you received Jesus, he abides in you and you in him.  Your life is coupled with his. Like train cars attached to the engine, wherever the engine goes, so go the cars.  Similarly, if Jesus is raised from the dead, so must those who are attached to him. You must go to where he is.

And he is in heaven.  Therefore, heaven is your home.

That’s as it should be.

If Jesus is raised from the dead, love wins.  Death is forever defeated. You will never see its ugly face again.  It will never have any power over you again. Fear of death is replaced with love for Jesus.

That’s as it should be.

If Jesus is raised from the dead, you will see your loved ones again in heaven.  How silly to think that years of love here evaporate forever at death. To the contrary, warm memories, engaging laughter, and mutual love will be shared anew.  You will never be separated from them again. They are waiting excitedly for you to arrive home and be reunited with them.

That’s as it should be.

If Jesus is raised from the dead, all that we learned on this side of eternity is not for naught.  Learning here has purpose. What you learned in life will be used in heaven’s order. It will continue after your arrival.  You are an eternity-long learner.

That’s as it should be.

If Jesus is raised from the dead, heaven has no tribulations.  Hate goes to hell. Wars never occur again. Fear flees. Hurt evaporates.  Tears are dried up. Shame and guilt are eradicated. Pain stops.

And faith, hope, and love endure forever.

That’s as it should be.

When you stop long enough to contemplate Easter, don’t you feel something stirring in your heart?  Doesn’t a fire burn in your soul suggesting that resurrection life must be true?

That’s as it should be.

These feelings are from your Creator.  They are God’s voice calling you home. He is reminding you that sin never wins.  Love always does.

These stirrings are echoes from eternity.  They exist to remind you that this world is not your home.

Heaven is.

God is whispering to your soul that Jesus is alive indeed.

That’s as it should be.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
